SAN'A, Yemen A Yemeni security official says two al-Qaida militants have ambushed a bus carrying security personnel in the capital, spraying the vehicle with gunfire and injuring 10 passengers.
Al-Qaida violence shifted to the capital after a week of fighting in a lawless southern region where the local branch of the terror group has found safe haven.
The security official says the gunmen, moving on foot, opened fire on the bus as it was transporting security personnel back to their base in a crowded neighborhood in western San'a on Saturday. The gunmen fled.
The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the press.
In the south, Yemeni forces drove al-Qaida militants from the town of Hawta on Friday after five days of heavy fighting.
